What does your NetRep say about you?

Do you actually know what information is on the net about yourself and are you fully aware of your Net Reputation (Net Rep) and the influence it can have on your career prospects.

This was a central question in an interesting survey that was commissioned by Viadeo, one of the world’s largest online business communities with over 1.3 million members across Europe!

The survey was undertaken amongst 2,477 adults in the UK and resulted in some remarkable conclusions rapped up in this funny video fragment .

We can assure you, based on the survey findings, that if a party-picture of yourself looking like a drunken junkie, is found online, you won’t probably get the job! So this is a clear call to all applicants :-)

You would be astonished by the amount of tools that exist on the web to track down any person you want. Examples are http://www.spock.com/ or http://www.internetaddressbook.com/

Have fun investigators!

Thx for the interesting links at the bottom, but I personally think www.google.com does a better job at finding the 'dirty details' you wish were kept a secret... E.g.: even if you wanted, you'll never be able to deny you've been working for SAP, Pointsec or Atos... ;-)

Hi Pietr, you are right that Google finds a lot, but it cannot search within profile sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Hyves etc. You can find Linkedin profiles with Google, but only after the profile owner gives permission for this.
