Google News to post original content from press agencies

Google News has signed contracts with four major press agencies to publish original content from these agencies on Google News. The press associations involved are Associated Press, Agence France-Press, The Press Association in the UK and The Canadian Press. According to Google this will make it easier for readers to track the original source of news articles. Obviously this is great for PR professionals to track a story.

On the other hand this is also remarkable. Google News is clearly trying to keep their readers on Google News longer, which may potentially influence click through rates to stories on other websites. Users will no longer need to leave Google News to read stories from these press agencies or view original photos and videos. It is also expected that Google will begin displaying more ads on Google News to target users.
